Dear Camp Chaverim Family:
The Jewish value of pikuah nefesh, saving a life, takes precedence over all other Jewish commandments. The Jewish Federation’s lay and professional leadership team has spent weeks gathering information about the impact of COVID-19 in order to ensure we could make the best decision for our Camp Chaverim family.
Regular Camp Chaverim 2020 Cancelled: It saddens us to share that, out of the utmost concern for the well-being of our campers, staff members and their respective families, we have had to make the very difficult decision to cancel in-person Camp Chaverim for the summer of 2020. All registration fees will be refunded over the next 3-4 weeks.
Free Virtual Camp Details: We are very excited to share that we have made the decision to offer a virtual Camp Chaverim experience free to our community this summer. Assistant Camp Directors Jeff Goss and Brian Stockton are putting together many engaging and fun activities which will be offered beginning June 1, 2020. While virtual camp will be free, we will have limited spots and will invite families to register in the following order via an email:
Registration: Registration emails will begin being sent the week of May 11, 2020. Please be sure you respond to the email within three business days of receiving it to ensure a spot for your camper(s) to participate in our first ever virtual summer!
Possible Get-Togethers: If social distancing requirements are no longer being recommended, we will work on planning one or more special get-togethers for our Camp Chaverim family.
We hope you and your family members are doing well, and that your camper(s) will be joining us this summer for Camp Chaverim “The Virtual” Summer of Peace, Love & Respect. We know it is not the same as being together – but we can’t wait to see our campers this summer. We are planning a fun schedule with well-known and many brand-new camp activities.
