OU Hillel, OU School of Music and OU Judaic Studies are co-sponsoring a performance, lecture and dessert banquet for Holocaust remembrance day on April 12, at 6pm.  Dan Schwartz, professor of oboe at the University of Oklahoma, and musician in the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, will be performing.  This lecture recital will be centered on the February Strike of 1941, a strike in Amsterdam carried out by thousands of Dutch and non-Jews against Nazi occupation (the only direct strike of its kind in World War II).  The evening will explore themes of meaningful remembrance, power of the bystander, and making the ultimate sacrifice.  The event will be a world-premiere performance of an original composition for oboe and electronics, lecture, and audience discussion. This lecture recital is presented in collaboration with Dr. Carsten Schapkow of OU Judaic Studies
